Chickamauga, GA – The Honors Academy at Ridgeland High School recently made a large donation to the Walker County Animal Shelter.

The donation included 40 blankets, 80 bottles of bleach, 40 dog toys, 40 cats toys, 100 bags of treats and a $1,000 grant for dog food and other needs.

The Ridgeland Honors Academy was established in 2009 as a school-within-a-school to offer “talented, gifted, and highly-motivated students the challenges and opportunities needed” to improve their chances of being admitted into the college or university of their choice.

“We greatly appreciate the students at Ridgeland Honors Academy for choosing the Shelter as one of their adopted organizations for 2019,” said Emily Sadler, Shelter Director. “This generous gift will help us continue to provide humane care for animals that are lost, abandoned or unwanted until they transition to their forever home.”

Academy students selected the Shelter to be one of a handful of organizations they collected items for during their “Holiday Drive.” 64,290 items were gathered for local groups during the effort.
