West Chickamauga Bridge

Chickamauga, GA – The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) recently awarded nearly $23 million in contracts for projects across northwest Georgia, including one in Walker County.

Wright Brothers Construction will be tasked with replacing the existing structurally deficient bridge over West Chickamauga Creek near the Walker/Catoosa County line. The $7-million project will not require a detour.

The project is located approximately 1.3 miles east of the city of Chickamauga, near Shaw Industries. It will begin approximately 1,250 feet southeast of the existing bridge and extend approximately 700 feet northwest of the existing bridge.

The mainline will consist of four 12 foot travel lanes, one 14 foot center turn lane, and 10-foot shoulders (6.5 foot paved).

The project is scheduled to be completed by April 30, 2023.
