Brian Hart took office as Walker County’s first District 3 Commissioner on January 1, 2021. District 3 covers part of Rock Spring, LaFayette, Villanow and the Armuchee Valley.

Hart moved to Walker County in 1978 when his father retired from the Army. He graduated from LaFayette High School in 1985, attended Southern Tech and received an Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology in 1988.

He worked for the City of Dalton for 30 years as a Construction/Operations Manager with the Solid Waste Management Authority and retired in 2019.

Hart served over 30 years in the US Army Reserve, Corps of Engineers. He retired in 2015 as a Command Sergeant Major. While serving in the Army, he worked on humanitarian aid construction projects in Egypt, Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala. Hart was deployed three times to serve in Operation Desert Storm, Operation Iraqi Freedom I and Operation Iraqi Freedom III.  

He currently owns and operates a cow/calf farm in Villanow, GA. He is a member of the Red Carpet Cattlemen’s Association, the Tri-State Cattlemen’s Association and the Walker County Farm Bureau. Hart serves as the appointed Walker County Soil & Water Conservation Supervisor for the Coosa River Soil and Water Conservation District. 

Hart and his wife Patty have two sons. They are members of LaFayette First United Methodist Church.
