Walker County Fire Rescue consist of three main units – Fire, Emergency Management and E-911. Chief Blake Hodge oversees all three areas for Walker County.
If you need smoke alarms in your home, call or email Regina Dorsey at 706-539-1255 ext 1. She will schedule a time for a firefighter to come to your home and install alarms for free. We do this as a community service with our partner, American Red Cross of Northwest Georgia.
Walker County operates 18 fire stations within the county. Six of those stations are staffed by career firefighters. Those career stations are located in Rock Spring, Chickamauga, Flintstone/Chattanooga Valley, Villanow, Cane Creek and near Kensington. Our other locations are staffed by valuable volunteers.

As a member of Walker County Fire Rescue, you will become a valuable asset to the people in your community by gaining the knowledge necessary to step-up and help when they need it the most.
If your busy work schedule will not allow you to completed the fire or EMS training, there are several other areas to help your community. Our support firefighter program allows for home study, with final check offs to be conducted at the local fire station. The Citizens Emergency Response Team (CERT) only takes two weekends and will train you to assist citizens during natural or manmade disastrous events.

The Emergency Management team works to keep you safe during times of disaster or distress. Our Emergency Operations Center provides a centralized location for county and city services to coordinate operations during potential events.
Emergency Management also coordinates the opening of shelters with CERT and sends out alerts on our SirenGPS Community Alert System. Those interested must subscribe to this free service in order to receive community and weather related alerts. You can register online or download the mobile app from the Google Play Store or Apple iTunes Store.
Our E-911 Communications Officers serve on the front lines during times of need.
They work tirelessly to dispatch emergency services on wrecks, fires, medical calls and criminal investigations, among other needs.
