The Human Resources Manager effectively provides support for all departments in accordance with the Chairperson’s objectives and evaluates all administrative, management and operational policies and procedures, implementing revisions as needed to ensure that the county’s best business practices conform to all applicable state and federal laws.

The Animal Control Officer is responsible for responding to animal complaints from county residents, along with domestic cat and dog bites and public health and safety issues that are animal related.


SCALE HOUSE OPERATOR (opened 1/21/21)
This position provides customer service to customers at our landfill by operating scales, performing cashier duties and answering customer questions among other duties.

Walker County is currently seeking applicant who are able to receive and interpret information through telecommunications equipment, and verbally and accurately dispatch that information in a timely manner to the proper authority.

CUSTODIAL SERVICES (opened 9/23/20)
This position is responsible for cleaning buildings and high touch surfaces, removing debris, and keeping areas neat and tidy in County buildings. Duties including vacuuming and buffing floors, shampooing carpets, emptying trash receptacles and replace lining of trash cans.

TRANSIT DRIVER – Full & Part-time (opened 9/23/20)
Walker County’s growing transit service has an immediate need for drivers, both full and part-time. This position operates a 14 passenger gas or diesel transit van on rural and urban routes.

LANDFILL EQUIPMENT OPERATOR: Level 3 (opened 8/19/20)
Walker County has an immediate opening for a lead operator at our landfill. This person serves in an oversight position at the Transfer Station, Brush and Tree Recycling Area, and Metals Recycling Operation. Applicant must be able to operate heavy equipment including, but not limited to, compactors, excavators, crawler tractors and tractor-trailers.

MECHANIC: Level 3 (opened 1/22/20)
Walker County Government’s Maintenance and Shop Department currently has two openings for Mechanic III positions. This is a third level position that provides mechanical and diagnostic services to County vehicles at the direction of the Mechanic IV and the Shop Supervisor.
