Administrative Assistant duties and responsibilities include providing administrative support to ensure efficient operation of the office. Supports managers and employees through a variety of tasks related to organization and communication. Responsible for confidential and time-sensitive material. Familiar with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures.

Ability to effectively communicate via phone and email ensuring that all Administrative Assistant duties are completed accurately and delivered with high quality and in a timely manner. May direct and lead the work of others. Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals and a wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. 


  • Handle multiple projects
  • Research and create presentations
  • Organize calendar, schedule meetings and appointments as requested
  • Assist in the preparation of regularly scheduled reports
  • Develop and maintain a filing system
  • Write letters and emails on behalf of other 
  • Handle sensitive information in a confidential manner
  • Assist with a variety of administrative tasks including, but not limited to, copying, faxing, scanning taking notes, and making travel plans
  • Answer phones in a professional manner and forward calls as appropriate 
  • Provide available information regarding county government topics when asked
  • Assist colleagues with administrative tasks
  • Assist with internal mailboxes, postage machine as needed; prepare certified mail or Express shipments
  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Greet all visitors and employees with a positive and helpful attitude
  • Assist all visitors by providing requested direction to all county government offices
  • Introduce visitors to the appropriate staff member, as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned. Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice 


  • Bachelors Degree preferred
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Experience in a similar office setting preferred
  • Experience with multi-line phones

  • Competency with Microsoft applications including Microsoft Office, and Google Suites
  • Experience with administrative and clerical procedures


  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is usually exposed to a noise level that is low to moderate. 100% of the work is performed in a controlled office environment with regulated heating and air conditioning.
