This is a third level position that provides mechanical and diagnostic services to County vehicles at the direction of the Mechanic IV and the Shop Supervisor.
This position performs auto service on all vehicles, from automobiles and light trucks to agricultural mowers and tractors and emergency services equipment.
Duties include, but are not limited to, brake work, including air brakes, major electrical repairs, major diagnostics, complete engine repairs, front end alignments, tire changes, rotations, and balances.
Requirements include intermediate automotive knowledge, with a thorough knowledge of diagnostic equipment and scanners, hydraulic jacks and air jacks, and the ability to operate a tire changer/balancer and a brake lathe.
Other requirements are: High School Diploma or equivalent; 5 years’ experience in a related environment; experience with medium trucks and equipment a plus. Excellent customer service aptitude is essential. A valid driver’s license and proof of insurance is required, a CDL is desirable. Must supply your own hand tools.
The work is performed in a typical automotive and garage setting. Must pass background check, MVR, and drug screen.
