Nine miles of new sewer lines are being installed in northern Walker County, along with additional infrastructure, in order to redirect the flow of sewer away from Chattanooga and back to the treatment plant in Chickamauga. Because it is so costly to treat sewer in Chattanooga, the move is expected to save the Walker County Water & Sewerage Authority and its customers millions over the next decade.
