The Governing Authority of Walker County, Georgia proposes to amend the County Code of Ordinances.  O-01-19 amends language in Chapter 34 regulating Land Development to include and adjust the Public Nuisance Ordinance of 2004.  It would also add Chapter 12 to the County Code of Ordinances regulating Buildings and Building Construction.  O-02-19 amends language in Chapter 46 regulating Construction of Roads for County Maintenance to bring current standards in line with surrounding counties.

Public hearings on these two proposed ordinances will be held on February 28, 2019 & March 14, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. at the Walker County Courthouse Annex III, 201 S Main Street in LaFayette, GA.


Walker County, GA is part of the thriving Chattanooga, TN-GA MSA, featuring a population of 68,939 people, according to the latest U.S. Census Bureau estimate.

The county boasts a labor force of 31,344. Nearly 39% of local jobs are in the service sector, while manufacturing accounts for 33% of all private employment positions.​ Roper Corporation, Shaw Industries Group and Nissin Brake Georgia are among Walker County’s top employers.

Walker County is also home to several major tourist attractions, like Rock City Gardens, and adventure destinations, such as Pettyjohn’s Cave, Rocktown and Lula Lake.
