Robert Blakemore took office as Walker County’s first District 1 Commissioner on January 1, 2021 and was re-elected to a second term that began January 1, 2023. District 1 covers northern Walker County, including Rossville, Fairview and part of Fort Oglethorpe.
Blakemore is a lifelong resident of northern Walker County. He and his wife, Courtney, have five children.
A 2007 graduate of Ridgeland High School, Blakemore worked for the Walker County Road Department for nearly 7 years, leading multiple crews. Currently, he works for his family owned and operated trucking company, HJ Blakemore & Sons Trucking, a 40+ year old business.
Blakemore and his wife coach a travel softball team, along with two girls basketball teams out of Rossville Athletic Center. In his free time, he loves to be outdoors with his family, hunting, fishing or watching his children practice their sports. He enjoys meeting and serving the citizens of Walker County.
