There are a number of advisory boards, commissions and committees that assist the Walker County Board of Commissioners (BOC) with everything from reviewing important subject matters to making recommendations to the BOC for action.
Many of these groups are comprised of community members and report directly to the BOC or individual county departments. However, certain qualifications are required to hold positions on some boards, commissions and committees.
These groups vary in size and responsibility. Some are created for a specific length of time or purpose, while others are part of the framework of Walker County Government. There are also several “Authority” bodies, which operate independent of Walker County Government.
