The following positions are currently available:

Walker County is currently seeking applications for a Legal Assistant / Administrative Assistant to work in the Solicitor-General’s office. This employee will prepare legal pleadings, attend court to assist in the orderly and efficient presentation of cases and enter case information into the Case Management system, among other duties.

Walker County is currently seeking applications for an E-911 Communications Officer. Job responsibilities include answering all non-emergency and emergency E-911 telephone lines, obtaining and recording pertinent information regarding the nature and urgency of the situation, etc.

The Codes Enforcement Officer is responsible for identifying code and ordinance violations, issuing citations with descriptions of corrective action of the violations and following up on citations to ensure all offenses have been corrected and the property is within the county codes and ordinances.

The Building Inspector is responsible for inspecting and documenting all aspects of building construction, including plumbing, electrical, footings, rough ins and final inspections on new and remodeled construction. The person holding this position also works with the public and contractors to ensure all construction meets local and national building codes and ordinances through all phases of construction.

This position operates a gas or diesel 14 passenger transit van on routes for the transit department, providing excellent customer service to the passengers served by the department.

This position is responsible for managing the daily operations of the Transit Department and ensuring an efficient  transportation service for the citizens of Walker County.

Volunteer Opportunity: Seeking qualified people to assist in the care and promotion of the Walker County Animal Shelter and Adoption Center.

Walker County Emergency Services (WCES) is currently accepting applications for the position of Firefighter. The starting pay for this position is $11.28 per hour.  Lateral hires with current AEMT, EMT-I or EMT-P will receive an additional 5% in pay.
