The following positions are currently available:

PART-TIME TRANSIT DRIVER (opened 10/25/21)
This position operates a gas or diesel 14 passenger transit van on routes for the transit department, providing excellent customer service to the passengers served by the department.   A thorough knowledge and compliance with  all federal, state, city, and county safety regulations and policies is mandatory. This position will also perform a number of skilled and unskilled tasks in the custodial care and maintenance of the buses, equipment, building and grounds of the transit department.


ACCOUNTANT (opened 10/25/21)
Assists the Chief Financial Officer in maintaining the accounting system and all governmental financial records. Balances accounts and compiles reports to show information such as cash receipts, expenditures, accounts payable, and accounts receivable. Performs routine accounting and bookkeeping tasks.


ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT (opened 10/18/21)
Administrative Assistant duties and responsibilities include providing administrative support to ensure the efficient operation of the organization. Supports managers and employees through a variety of tasks related to organization and communication. Responsible for confidential and time-sensitive material.


GENERAL LABORER (opened 10/14/21)
The General Laborer is an entry level position that provides manual labor support to team members of the Public Works Department. The General Laborer’s work schedule is 7:00 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Thursday, but is required to report for inclement weather and other emergencies on occasion that could be outside of the normal work schedule.


SHOP CLERK (opened 10/14/21)
The Shop Clerk is an entry level position that provides general support to the county Maintenance shop at the direction of the Shop Supervisor and Technician IV. The shop Clerk will work Monday through Friday unless otherwise specified.


FLEET TECHNICIAN III (opened 10/12/21)
The Fleet Technician III is a third level position that provides general mechanical services to the county Fleet at the direction of the Shop Supervisor and Technician IV.  Fleet Technicians work a regular schedule, but will have to report for severe weather and other emergencies on occasion that could be outside of their normal work schedule.


FLEET TECHNICIAN II (opened 10/12/21)
The Fleet Technician II is a second level position that provides general mechanical services to the county Fleet at the direction of the Shop Supervisor and Technician IV.  Fleet Technicians work a regular schedule, but will have to report for severe weather and other emergencies on occasion that could be outside of their normal work schedule.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR (opened 10/11/21)
The Economic Development Director is responsible for facilitating economic development planning and initiatives; identifying and fostering economic development opportunities; securing funding for economic development opportunities; assisting local organizations, businesses, and individuals with establishing economic development plans and projects; marketing Walker County to attract businesses to the area; serving as a liaison between the various state, county and city officials, county and city departments, civic organizations, the business community.


BUILDING INSPECTOR (opened 9/9/21)
The Building Inspector is responsible for inspecting and documenting all aspects of building construction, including plumbing, electrical, footings, rough ins and final inspections on new and remodeled construction.


CUSTODIAN (opened 9/9/21)
This position is responsible for cleaning buildings and high touch surfaces, removing debris, and keeping areas neat and tidy in county buildings, as well as vacuuming and buffing floors, shampooing carpets, emptying trash receptacles, replacing the lining of trash cans and fogging buildings.


FIREFIGHTER (opened 8/18/21)
