If you need smoke alarms in your home, call 706-539-1255 ext 1. We will schedule a time for a firefighter to come to your home and install alarms for free. We do this as a community service with our partner, American Red Cross of Northwest Georgia.
Walker County operates 18 fire stations within the county. Seven of those stations are staffed by career firefighters. Those career stations are located in Rock Spring, Chickamauga, Flintstone/Chattanooga Valley, Fairview, Villanow, Cane Creek and near Kensington. Our other locations are staffed by valuable volunteers.
Walker County Fire Rescue conducts fire safety inspections of existing buildings and structures, reviews plans for proposed buildings and issues certificates of occupancy. A copy of the fee schedule for inspection fees, as well as fines for miscellanous fire code violations can be found here. These fees were adopted December 7, 2006.
Want to help family and friends in need? We’re always recruiting new career and volunteer firefighters. If you feel compelled to serve your community, consider joining our team. Simply fill out an application packet on our employment page to begin the process.
As a member of Walker County Fire Rescue, you will become a valuable asset to the people in your community by gaining the knowledge necessary to step-up and help when they need it the most.
If your busy work schedule will not allow you to completed the fire or EMS training, there are several other areas to help your community. Our support firefighter program allows for home study, with final check offs to be conducted at the local fire station. The Citizens Emergency Response Team (CERT) only takes two weekends and will train you to assist citizens during natural or manmade disastrous events.
