Flu Shots & COVID Boosters Available in Rossville on Wednesday

Flu vaccination

Walk-in influenza and COVID-19 booster shots will be offered in Rossville this week. The Walker County Health Department will provide a vaccination clinic from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 26 at the Rossville Athletic Center gym, located at 301 Williams Street in Rossville.

The Georgia Department of Public Health reports widespread flu activity already in the state, which is earlier than recent years. Those between the ages of five and 24 are in the demographic that has been most affected.

Flu symptoms can include fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache, chills, and fatigue. Symptoms can vary from person to person.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends flu vaccination for everyone six months and older. It takes about two weeks after vaccination for antibodies that protect against flu to develop in the body.

Those dropping by the Rossville gym for a flu shot should bring their insurance card. The cost for those without insurance is $20. In addition to the flu vaccine, the new COVID booster shot will be available.

Flu vaccine is also widely available at local doctors’ offices, grocery stores, neighborhood clinics and pharmacies. To find a location near you, click here to visit vaccines.gov.
