Thousands of people visit Walker County each year, spending time at popular outdoor attractions like Rock City Gardens, the Shirley Miller Wildflower Trail and McLemore. These and other scenic destinations are now linked on a new selfie trail that spans across the county.

The following locations are part of the #WalkerRocks Selfie Trail:

This location features two trailhead markers. The first showcases the unique view where you can “see 7 states.” The second highlights the iconic “See Rock City” barn.

  • John Ross Common

John Ross served as the Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation from 1828 to 1866 and lived in this home in the 1830’s. The historic house serves as the centerpiece for a resurgent commons area that includes duck watching, a monthly catch and release fishing event and musical performances.

While McLemore features the “best finishing hole in America since 2000,” according to Golf Digest, it is also home to Inspiration Point, a scenic overlook on Lookout Mountain high above McLemore Cove.

This nearly one mile down and back trail features a boardwalk, waterfall and nearly 50 varieties of wildflowers. The best time to visit is in March and April, when wildflowers are in bloom

Acres of rock, formed from years of geological activity and natural development, will amaze you. These changes in the earth created a unique opportunity for rock climbing and bouldering for beginners and experts alike.

A 260-acre lake that can be enjoyed from sunrise to sunset. Fishing, paddle boarding, kayaking, canoeing and sailing regularly interrupt the calm still of the waters.

  • Hugh Campbell Memorial Trail (NEW for 2023!)

Currently under construction, this new trail will make LaFayette a lot more walkable. The trailhead marker is already in place near the wildflowers at the bank of the Chattooga River.

  • Chickamauga Battlefield Connector Trail (NEW for 2023!)

This new walking trail will eventually connect the Chickamauga Battlefield to downtown Chickamauga, however you can take a selfie at the spot where the trail meets the Chickamauga Battlefield today.

Did you know you can kayak all the way from Chickamauga to the Tennessee River near Chattanooga State? This blueway trail starts at Lee & Gordon’s Mills in Chickamuga, heads through the Chickamauga Battlefield, past Camp Jordon and then finishes near Chattanooga State.
