Animal Shelter Adoption Contract & Application Step 1 of 6 16% Walker County Animal Shelter Adoption ContractTerms and conditions:* The Adopter agrees that the animal will be kept as a domesticated house pet. This means that dogs will be kept indoors except for periods of exercise in a fenced-in yard or on a leash. Cats will always be kept indoors unless a screened-in porch or similar type enclosure is available to ensure the cat is not allowed to roam freely. This excludes cats that are specifically adopted out to barn homes. The Adopter agrees to provide proper veterinary care for the animal, including but not limited to, yearly rabies vaccination, monthly heartworm prevention and flea/tick prevention. Note: Rabies vaccination is a Georgia State law. The Adopter grants Walker County Animal Shelter and/or Walker County Animal Control the right to make periodic visits to the Adopter’s premises for the purpose of checking on the health and general welfare of the animal. The Adopter represents that all family members have agreed to the adoption of the animal and that all family members will abide by the terms of this agreement. In the event the terms of this contract are breached, or if found guilty of or in violation of any Walker County Animal Care Ordinances, the Adopter agrees the animal will be immediately returned to Walker County Animal Shelter.
