The Walker County Police Department was started in 1986 by Commissioner Roy Parrish to primarily enforce our codes. There are currently three mandated police officers (POST certified) and one unmandated officer on the force.  Our building inspector also serves as Assistant Chief.  Curtis Patterson (Animal Control) and Paul Linder (Fire Marshal) are mandated officers as well.

The mandated officers of the Walker County Police have the same arrest powers as the Sheriff’s Department. Those officers have the ability to enforce County and State codes, write citations, issue fines and make arrests.
